It started way back when for Mr Smooth EMT. 2004 to be precise! "After countless times of going out clubbing and not being satisfied musically, one evening in 2004, I decided to take matters in to my own hands!" Smooth's subsequent main DJ influences - mainly Jazzy Jeff, Shortee Blitz and DJ EZ - meant that he became quite eclectic and had a wide-ranging taste for music. After plucking up the courage to stop DJing to himself in his bedroom, he flaunted his skills by throwing various flat parties at his halls of residence at university! The flat parties soon became regular events that he personally put on in the Student Union and in local clubs around Hertfordshire.

"I soon realised my big mouth had a way with words too!" Over the years, Smooth's craft as a DJ and with a microphone has taken him far and wide, playing in various world-renowned venues, both nationally and internationally; something he feels very privileged and humbled to be able to showcase his skills to the masses. "My open-format style of DJing makes me very versatile and as such, I’ve played at clubs full of boozed-up students, to intimate private occasions, as well as some glitzy celebrity parties too!" The party islands of Ayia Napa, Malia and Ibiza have seen Smooth regularly, as well as the clubbers in Gran Canaria, Amsterdam and also in Nicosia, Cyprus as well as DJing in Ghana too!

 

Smooth has met and worked with some very cool people over the years, notably during his time working with the Sony BMG (now Sony Music) street team, where they handled on-the-ground promotion for artists such as Chris Brown, Amerie, Omarion, Jazmine Sullivan and Collie Buddz, to name but a few. "A big shout out to Reggie Styles and Redz for the opportunity, one I’m eternally grateful for!"

Smooth says his passion for greatness and his unwavering workrate provide him with the ability to do all he has done so far in his career, "It's all about aiming for legendary. The sky is the limit." He contributes regularly with mix content to DJ City - the Number 1 Record Pool in the world - as well as regular mixes on his own Mixcloud channel.
